Situated on Holgate Road, on the edge of the beautiful, historic city of York, the Kilima Hotel is an ideal place to stay for those who enjoy sight-seeing. The building was formerly a Victorian rectory, and still has many original features.
Some of York’s major attractions are within easy walking distance of the Kilima Hotel, including York Racecourse, The Shambles, the Minster and the city walls.
York boasts some superb architecture, much of which is ancient. The medieval houses which make up The Shambles, York’s oldest street, lean in towards the middle of the street so that their roofs almost meet. It is a major tourist attraction.
Undoubtedly York’s most majestic building, however, is York Minster: the spectacular gothic cathedral which dates back to the 13th Century (although religious buildings have stood in its place since the year 627).
