Yorkshire enjoyed a fabulous white Christmas in 2009 with many areas covered in a blanket of snow and some areas seeing snowfall on Christmas Day for the first time in many years.
And forecasters are already predicting a repeat performance this year. Following the earliest snowfall across the county for nearly 30 years in November, another wintry spell is on its way from the North Pole ahead of Father Christmas’s sleigh.
Yorkshire’s fabulous sights are spectacular at the best of times, but during the festive season the cities and towns of York, Leeds, Sheffield, Whitby, Harrogate, Ripon, Thirsk and Easingwold glisten with fairy lights and look like beautiful Victorian Christmas card scenes when covered in snow.
