Boulmer Guest House B&B - Whitby

The Boulmer Guest House in Whitby is a 4-star rated family-run establishment with a warm, home-from-home atmosphere. The owners , Helen & Paul Bronson, like to provide each guest with a friendly Yorkshire welcome, and start each visit in the best possible way.

Boulmer Guest House has seven bedrooms (including family, double, twin and a single) and most of them are fully en suite. They cater for singles, couples, families with children, and guests may even be able to bring their dogs for a small extra charge. Several dog-friendly guest rooms are available, and the Pau & Helen will be happy to provide towels, bedding, leads and bowls - and information about dog-friendly walks and pubs.

The Guest House has a fantastic situation atop the West Cliff - a very popular part of Whitby, and just minutes from the heart of the old town with its fascinating maze of narrow streets, chock-full of, interesting shops and boutiques, cafés and restaurants, galleries and amusements.

Beneath the West Cliff within easy access, and running all the way from the harbour to the village of Sandsend is a glorious, sandy, Blue Flag beach - almost two miles of it. It’s ideal for romantic walks, walking the dog, or building sandcastles with the kids. And there’s lots of nearby woodland, criss-crossed with footpaths and trails, including a path where the old railway used to run - great for exploring and getting a bit of gentle exercise.

Whitby has some widely-renowned, award-winning, restaurants and there’s also a host of cafés, pubs and seaside snackbars - fish ‘n’ chips at lunchtime might be followed by fine, French cuisine in the evening. There’s something for everyone. And while we’re on the subject, Paul & Helen like to ensure that all their guests start their day the right way -  so their superb breakfasts are made from locally-sourced, fresh products.

And you’ll need a good breakfast as there’s so much to see and do - some great visitor attractions (including climbing the steps to the ruined Abbey - a great way to tire the kids out), seaside cruises, museums, galleries, the Dracula Experience, fossil hunting, walking, cycling, swimming or sunbathing. And that’s just in Whitby. Scarborough is just down the road, and there’s the North York Moors (and the steam railway) . . . and so much more.
