Situated in the picturesque village of Crayke, atop the hill up which the Grand Old Duke of York allegedly marched his men, The Durham Ox has won multiple awards in recent years. The main building is 300 years old and has retained many original features. Its flag stone floors, oak panelling and beautiful exposed beams fill the bar area with character, and the roaring fires in winter make it a welcome shelter from the cold.
The bar serves a selection of real ales, an eclectic collection of wines, including prize vintages, and mouth watering meals made from fresh local produce.
The Durham Ox offers three kinds of accommodation. All bedrooms include the facilities listed below. In addition The Junior Cottage Suites have a seating area. The Large Cottage Rooms are split over two floors and have a double bedroom, a twin bedroom, comfortable sitting room, galley kitchen and Jacuzzi bathroom. The Studio is a new 600 square foot suite above the pub, accessed via an outside staircase and terrace.
