Farsyde Farm is a working, family-run stud farm with 70 acres of grassland on the edge of the North York Moors above the beach over Robin Hood’s Bay, so a holiday here has all the advantages of a beautiful setting close to the sea and the Moors, and is ideal for families. The Farm has accommodation to suit a range of visitors from couples to family groups.
Farsyde House has only recently become ready for holiday lets following renovation. It’s a period farmhouse dating back to 1670 and has been Grade 2 listed by English Heritage. Although it has a long history and retains many of the original features including panelled wainscot and oak beams, it has generously-proportioned rooms and a full range of modern conveniences.
The master bedroom has a king bed and a single bed and large en suite bathroom with a bath and a separate shower. The second bedroom has a king bed and a single bed as well as a further pull-out bed. The third bedroom has a single bed and there's a separate large house bathroom which includes a shower over the bath.
Farsyde House has views of the sea/the moors/the countryside from most windows.
Mistal Cottage is ETC 4* and offers a real touch of luxury. It’s a detached stone-built cottage with superb views and has its own patio and private walled garden. It also has a private and exclusive 20 foot chalet swimming pool (available for hire). It has two bedrooms (one twin and one double), with a large bathroom (with a bath and electric shower) and is handsomely furnished and equipped with almost every modern facility.
The four Mews Cottages are all ETC 3* rated. They’re compact 2-bedroom properties converted from a stone barn and they enjoy a terrace garden and a view to the orchard. They are all well-equipped with modern facilities (Cottages 3 and Cottage 4 have washer/dryer machines). The bedrooms sleep from two-five people.
Robin Hood’s Bay is a superb location for a holiday. The village itself is one of Yorkshire’s most esteemed seaside resorts with a sandy beach and some great pubs and restaurants. It’s also very close to the renowned seaport of Whitby - consistently rated one of the UK’s best seaside resorts. The North York Moors and stunning countryside are also on your doorstep, and Goathland (whose station was used in the Harry Potter films) is also nearby.
As a working farm, Farsyde Farm is home to many domestic animals including foals, stallions, donkeys, ducks, hens and a herd of Blonde d’Aquitaine cattle. The area is a haven for wildlife - badgers are frequent visitors and deer and foxes can also be seen from time to time. And there are plenty of wild birds. As well as seabirds, look out for garden birds and birds of prey.
