Situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Goathland, Glendale House is a beautiful stone residence which overlooks the village common, where sheep can be seen grazing just outside the garden gate. The house was built during the Victorian era by Edward Fuller Sewell, an uncle of Anna Sewell who famously wrote the novel, Black Beauty. This is not the house's only claim to fame, it is also famous as Dr Ferrenby's surgery in the popular television series, Heartbeat, which was filmed in Goathland.
Glendale House has been recently refurbished, and offers luxurious accommodation which includes en suite bedrooms with Wi-Fi access, and a beautiful conservatory dining room, which boasts lovely views of the garden.
Walkers are in their element in Goathland. You need not drive anywhere to find pretty walks and trails to follow, as many start from the village, and pass rivers, streams, waterfalls, through fields, pastures, and stunning moorland.
