Little Holtby was mentioned in the Domesday Book but its history goes further back to Saxon, Viking and even Roman times. The present house is full of warmth and character, and guests enjoy a peaceful and relaxing stay, with a full English breakfast to start their day. Little Holtby faces south-west so catches the evening sun as it sets over the Dales, with the three peaks of Pen y Ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside in the background.
As well as the Dales, the other Yorkshire National Park - the North York Moors - is just as near at hand, so there’s plenty of good walking, riding or cycling country. And there’s a host of museums, castles, stately homes, ruined abbeys and priories, plus splendid market towns - each with their own character and excellent shops and facilities - within a 20 mile drive of this most delightful part of the country.
