The Old Vicarage welcomes walkers and cyclists and with the Yorkshire Wolds and North York Moors on the doorstep, as well as great rail networks into the National Park this really is a great base from which to explore the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside. The steam trains of the North York Moors Railway run from nearby Pickering right up through Newtondale and on to Grosmont, deep in the National Park - a great way to start your day’s adventuring, or a relaxing means to make your journey back.

After a hard day’s exploring relax with a pot of tea and a slice of Neville’s homemade cake (his lemon drizzle cake is a favourite with returning guests). Afternoon tea is served daily, either in the warmth and comfort of the guest sitting in front of the fire, or out in the garden with the stunning backdrop of the North Yorkshire countryside.

Breakfast at The Old Vicarage starts with orange juice, freshly squeezed and served up along side a selection of cereals and fresh fruit. Then, choose from a range of healthy and hearty options, including locally smoked haddock, French toast, or a traditional Yorkshire breakfast. Locally sourced, seasonal produce is used whenever possible, including fruits from the owner’s allotment, eggs from the local farm and homemade bread and preserves.

The local pub, The White Swan, is only a 5 minute walk away and offers a good selection of homecooked food, including their famous steak pie. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants near Newton upon Rawcliffe covering all tastes. Neville and Barbara are happy to advise on the best places to go and make reservations on behalf of guests if required.

Room with a View
A generously proportioned, luxurious bedroom with king size bed and en-suite bathroom, including rainforest shower. Elegantly furnished and decorated with beautiful pieces of furniture, this light, airy room has a large bay window offering views to the south and east over the fabulous North Yorkshire countryside.

Blue Room
The Blue Room is a charming king size bedroom with a beautiful ornamental feature fireplace and en-suite shower room with rainforest shower. Decorated in a contemporary, country style, this bright, cheerful room has fantastic views southward toward the Yorkshire Wolds.

Church View
Church View is a large bedroom with east facing views over the old village church. The comfortable super king size bed ensures a sound night’s sleep, and the contemporary Alessi en-suite bathroom complete with rainforest shower over the bath adds to the luxury.

The Garden Room
The Garden Room is a ground floor king size bedroom with access to the Vicarage’s beautiful country garden. It has a large, contemporary styled, Villeroy and Boch en-suite bathroom, with spacious walk in shower and separate bath – an ideal place to relax and pamper yourself with the complimentary, luxury toiletries after a long day’s exploring or sight seeing.
