Ramsdale Mill Farm Cottage is the ideal romantic or small family hideaway, set in the stunning countryside of the North York Moors National Park, at the end of a mile-long country lane. The idyllic rural setting for a delightful holiday home.
The Cottage was originally a granary but, now offers modern facilities and a very comfortable bijou apartment on the first floor and loft. Access to the accommodation is via an external stone staircase, and takes you into an open-plan living room with a beamed ceiling, open fire and wooden floor. On the same floor, there’s a well-equipped fitted kitchen cum dining area, and a double bedroom with a vaulted, beamed ceiling, plus a shower room/WC.
The Cottage is surrounded by ancient woodland through which a river flows, with footpaths winding amid open countryside and meadows strewn with wild flowers. It makes an ideal base for small parties on walking or cycling holidays as there’s cycle storage as well as private parking.
Besides the vast and varied landscape, there’s the bonus of the Yorkshire coast just a few minutes’ drive away. It’s always a delight as the historic town of Whitby appears in view, its ruined Abbey perched above the harbour. Whitby isn’t just a seaside resort par excellence, but it also hosts a golf course and many delightful shops, galleries and restaurants.
Robin Hood’s Bay is just a little further along the coast, with eighteenth century cottages lining the maze of its charming cobbled streets, and a beautiful sandy beach. Grosmont Station (central point of TV’s Heartbeat) is only 8 miles away - the North Yorkshire Moors Railway’s steam trains make regular stops on their journeys across the Moors. Only a little further afield is the Victorian seaside resort of Scarborough.
