Ripley Castle is a truly magnificent property which has been home to the Ingilby family for over 700 years. The castle has had a rather colourful history and some fantastic stories to tell from religious persecution, to Oliver Cromwell being kept at gun point in the library!
There are tours of the castle conducted daily lasting well over an hour and you will visit all the rooms which are open to the public and will receive an in-depth informative experience. During school holidays and on the weekends there are special tours available for children.
Enjoy a lovely walk around the castle grounds, take in the breath-taking views over the lakes and deer park. Wander around the walled kitchen garden which is home to a vast herb bed and collection of rare vegetables. Join the park walk round the castle’s ornamental lake, across the waterfall and straight into the deer park, where you can watch the cattle and fallow deer graze peacefully under the ancient trees.
