The Wolds Retreat Bed and Breakfast, situated in the market town Pocklington, is set in the heart of the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds and is run by the Madhyamaka Buddhist Centre. The accommodation is set in 42 acres of tranquil grounds which includes woodland, park, lakes and gardens yet is just 15 miles away from Beverley and York. The estate is rich with natural beauty, wildlife and heritage. Visitors can enjoy watching the squirrels play in the garden or catch a glimpse of the red kites that are often seen souring above. If heritage and architecture interests you then our main hall, which is a 200 year old Georgian mansion, will appeal as will the ancient Norman Church found at the bottom of the garden. As a non-profit organization all profits are invested back into the natural estate which serves as a peaceful oasis open to the public free of charge all year round.
There are a wide range of activities to be enjoyed in the locality including cycling and walking in the Wolds, golfing at the nearby KP Club with its award winning clubhouse and gliding at the Wolds Gliding Club, the largest in the UK.
The Wolds Retreat Bed and Breakfast features an on-site vegetarian cafe with a great selection of lunch and evening meals, which can be enjoyed by the log fire in the cooler months. There is ample private car parking available and wi-fi Internet is available throughout, allowing you to keep in touch via your laptop. Visit our new gift shop and pick the perfect gift to return home with. Guests are also welcome to relax in the comfortable living room or one of the four dedicated meditation rooms. If you are looking for an idyllic retreat, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, then look no further.
