Having enjoyed considerable acclaim and success in a Northallerton restaurant, Angela and Peter Wood moved to the Black Swan Inn, the popular traditional village local at Thornton-Le-Moor, and oversaw a top notch, tip-to-toe refurbishment programme, adding a fine à la carte restaurant to create Woody's at the Black Swan.
Peter, a chef for over 30 years, is renowned for his cooking skills, and many customers regularly drive from miles around to eat at Woody's. Peter and his team set great store with only the freshest ingredients, locally sourced as far as possible, and everything is prepared and cooked on the premises.
The extensive menu includes homemade classics like steak and mushroom pie and lasagne, quality locally-sourced steaks and gammon, and a range of mouth-watering contemporary dishes such as "grilled tuna steak on a bed of noodles with a lemon and tarragon sauce”: there really is something for everyone.
With John Smith's cask and two other guest ales on tap, a full range of other drinks and an extensive wine list, this remains a superb place to meet for a drink and a chat, but those in the know take the time to relax and enjoy a leisurely lunch or dinner.
