If there’s one place which really captures the spirit of the saying “go that extra mile” it’s Barker Stakes Farm. Steve and Sarah, the owners, have gone to great lengths to provide just about everything that you need for a happy holiday. There are five Timber Lodges - one three-bedroom (one king-size double en suite, one standard double and one small twin), two two-bedroom, and two one-bedroom. All have towels, bedding, gas central heating, TV, DVD and access to the outdoor facilities on the Farm.

Alternatively you can do B&B in one of the eleven Courtyard Guest Rooms or the private Log Cabin, or combine B&B with cooking your own meals in the Loft apartment, or go the whole self-catering hog in the Loft or one of the six Log Cabins.

The setting is amazing - it’s a working farm and the farmhouse dates back to the 18th century. There are 32 acres to explore on the banks of a small river called Pickering Beck - and there’re 800 yards of onsite trout fishing to take advantage of. On the lawns you can play croquet or boules, and children have their own playpark. There’s a big field suitable for football - or just running around, in the courtyard there’s Jeronimo Jenga, and in the barn there’s a pool table, swingball and table tennis. The kids will also love the tame animals - a turkey, ducks, free range hens, Dexter cows and two goats.
