Creatures of the Deep
Come and discover what lived underwater in East Yorkshire at the time of dinosaurs. Take a look at the fossil collection and see the remains of some of the plants and animals that lived on Earth millions of years ago.

Bonfire and firework extravaganza at Thornton Hall
Celebrate bonfire night in style at Thornton Hall. Tuck in to delicious food and drink on site and watch the live entertainment before the musical firework display begins.

Winter owl evenings
Join the National Centre for Birds of Prey for a magical evening watching owls soar across the sky. The event starts with a two course meal before you see owls, lit by torch light flying over the woodland grounds.

Bonfire night at Bolton Abbey
Watch fireworks in the magnificent setting of Bolton Abbey on the banks of the River Wharf. Fire eaters and fair ground rides will keep you entertained until the main display begins at 7pm.

The BFG in pictures
The York art gallery is hosting a very special exhibition of original Quentin Blake artwork. These are unpublished illustrations of Roald Dahl’s classic children’s story as well as some of book’s final illustrations. It shows the fascinating development of the giant and the collaboration between author and illustrator.

Leeds traditional German Christmas market
Okay, so it sits a little bit outside North Yorkshire, but the Leeds Christmas market isn’t something you’ll want to miss. There are over 40 traditional stalls to wander around to find those perfect presents and get a head start on gifts this year.

12 days of Christmas at Castle Howard
