What’s on this February?

There is lots going on this month to keep you and the whole family entertained. You’ll not be short of ideas for what to do this half term! Plus, there are lots of festivals and events taking place all month, including the very exciting Dark Skies Festival in North Yorkshire’s stunning national parks.

Brimham Rocks Through the Ages

Walk through history and learn a little more about how the last ice age shaped the landscape you can still see today. Guides will also share stories of the people who called Brimham their home and talk to you about ongoing conservation work.

Whitby Steampunk Weekend

Steampunk is said to be a subgenre of science fiction and fantasy. It encompasses fashion, engineering, art and music. This interesting concept produces a yearly festival in Whitby that has many shows such as: Tenpole Tudor, Alice’s Night Circus and Biscuithead & The Biscuit Badgers. You should also take a look around the Retail Emporium where you will find 80 trading stands with a host of clothing and accessories.

Ice Cream and Artisan Food Show 2020

If you fancy a large assortment of ice creams displayed for you to try, this food show is for you. Along with the ice cream, the festival also showcases equipment and machinery utilised by the ice cream industry. It is open to everyone so whether you have a fascination of ice cream or just want to try some fun new flavours, everybody’s welcome.

Half Term at Lightwater Valley

Fab Feb Family Fun at Lightwater Valley has an exciting range of indoor and outdoor activities to keep the kids entertained this half term. There will be live magic shows, petting farm and fairground rides for all to enjoy.

Dark Skies Festival

National Parks remain some of the darkest places in Britain, making it one of the best places to go stargazing. The festival of events in both the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales help you to discover and enjoy the stars above us. Visit the website for the full schedule of events.

Snowdrop Trail at Thorp Perrow

If you fancy a walk through the arboretum to see a variety of stunning flowers to admire and learn about, then this trail is for you. Collect a map as you arrive and follow the snowdrops trail around the stunning gardens.

Jorvik Viking Festival

This large event involves: ​living history encampments, markets, workshops, talks, tours and dramatic combat performances. This year’s theme is voyages of Vikings, and weather you’re are into the sagas or just want a fun adventure during the half term break, there is something for everyone.

Harrogate Indoor Funfair

Back again to keep the whole family entertained is the Harrogate Indoor Funfair. Get unlimited access to the rides and enjoy the games on site to see if you can win yourself a prize.

A Taste in Time

Learn about the traditional techniques of butter making. You’ll get to try your own hand on original butter making equipment and make delicious buttermilk scones to spread you own handmade butter on. You’ll also get to visit the Wensleydale Creamery to see how dairy products are made today.

A festival in Scarborough, that has a variety of activities from looking at art placed around Scarborough to live music, choirs and mini plays. Everyone can join in on the sing along, dance, making of art or simply watch.

National Railway Museum-Rocket in Brass, Steel and Fire

Come down to the National Railway Museum to see the original Rocket. Explore the inventions of the 1800s where vicars, lace makers and miners breathed life into hissing, steaming miniature locomotives. Check out their homemade creations and see how they changed to future of the railway.
