There are lots of great new year’s eve events in Yorkshire this year. You’re spoiled for choice with your celebrations this year. Take a look at some of the biggest events that you can enjoy to bring 2018 to a close in style.
Flamborough Fire Festival
This year’s Flamborough Fire Festival is in honour of the Goddess of Water. Celebrate the new year by watching Vikings invade the town, be awed by the Flamborough Fireballs’ performance, enjoy the burning of the Viking longship and finish the night with a spectacular firework display.
New Year’s Eve with Elvis
Celebrate the new year with Elvis in Scarborough! Well, okay, not the real Elvis, but Tony Skingle is an amazing tribute and he’s sure to help you get 2019 off to a great start.
Celebrate on HM Bark Endeavour in Whitby
Climb aboard the replica of Captain Cook’s most famous ship and celebrate the start of a new year. Dine on delicious food and a drink (or two), enjoy the live entertainment and head to the top deck to watch Whitby’s East Pier firework display.
Don’t fancy hopping on board? You can still enjoy the fireworks in the town.
Fireworks at Reeth Memorial Hall
Head over to Reeth Memorial Hall for a spectacular, family friendly firework event. You don’t need to wait up until midnight to enjoy them as the event starts at 7pm on 1st Jan 2019. It’s perfect for families with younger children.
York Racecourse New Year’s Eve celebrations
The York Racecourse are hosting an event you’ll never forget. Tuck in to a three or four course meal before you start to dance the night away and enjoy the live entertainment.
Don’t fancy something so large? Gather around the York Minster to hear the bells ringing at midnight. Stand in the crowd of locals and enjoy the togetherness of being in such beautiful surroundings all sharing the same experience to mark the New Year.

Knaresborough Duck Race
On the 1st Jan 2019, you could be in with the chance to win £100 in the Knaresborough duck race. At around 1:30pm, almost 5000 plastic ducks will be dropped from high bridge and race down to the finishing line outside Marigold’s Café. Tickets cost £1 to sponsor a duck.

ABBA tribute night in Bridlington
Head over to Bridlington Spa for an incredible night of ABBA tribute. The show is divided in half with a disco interval, so there’s plenty of time for you to show off your inner Dancing Queen.
