Don’t forget to book your tickets for the Santa Specials. One very special and certainly well-known regular visitor to North Yorkshire is currently preparing for this winter’s jaunts as tickets are selling for the North Yorkshire Moors Railway’s Santa Specials services.
It’s that time of year when we’re counting down to Christmas and where the first Santa Specials will depart from Grosmont and Pickering Stations on 30 November, followed on 7 December by seasonal services from Whitby Station.
As we all know know, Santa is extremely busy right through the run-up to Christmas, but the North Yorkshire Moors Railway have booked his services for the Santa Specials each weekend from 30 November through to 22 December. Being aware of how quickly some of the services fill up, extra seats are being released earlier this year so that no-one is disappointed.
The Santa Specials which travel through the North York Moors National Park certainly are a traditional treat, with trains handed over to Santa and his team of helpers. The round trip takes around an hour, and will include warming hot drinks (including a little alcoholic tipple for grown-ups!) and delicious mince pies. Children will receive colouring pencils and a trail sheet to entertain themselves and will be given a drink of juice. They’ll also be offered a present from Santa himself when they visit Santa’s very own carriage during the journey.
Services will depart from Pickering Station on 30 November, 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21 and 22 December, Grosmont on 30 November, 6, 13, 20, 21 and 22 December and 7 & 14 December from Whitby Station.
Tickets: £15 per person, which need to be booked online at www.nymr.co.uk or please telephone: 01751 472508.
