What’s on in June?

Yorkshire is glorious all year round, but as we move between spring and summer, it’s absolutely sensational. The sun is shining, BBQs are sizzling, and everyone is in a great mood.

There are so many wonderful events happening this month that you won’t want to miss. Here’s our pick of some highlights:

The Swaledale Festival

There’s so much going on throughout the Swaledale Festival this year. Enjoy music, arts exhibits and walking in the gorgeous dale. Stars from around the world and local Yorkshire artists and performers come together to create an impressive line-up.

World Ocean’s Weekend

The Deep in Hull are hosting an event to celebrate World Ocean’s Weekend. Find out all about what we can do to help protect our oceans and help keep them free from plastic and pollution. You’ll get to see amazing creatures too, like giant Loggerhead sea turtles, Gentoo penguins, jellyfish, and much more.

Puffin and Gannet Seabird Crusies

The RSPB are running many seabird cruises to introduce you to some of the wondrous creatures that call the North Yorkshire coastline home. Bempton Cliffs are teeming with life and your cruise will take you up close to the birds.

Castle Howard Jousting Tournament

The weekend is full of medieval action as Knights battle it out on the jousting field. Pick your winner and cheer them on as they go head to head. There are also a wide range of fun activities to keep you entertained all day, including bird of prey displays.

Newby Hall Tractor Fest

This is the biggest tractor fest in the north. The two-day festival showcases thousands of vintage tractors, cars, lorries, stationary engines, and motorcycles. It’s a fantastic day out for the whole family to enjoy.

The Gin Society Festival in Scarborough

Enjoy a pure gin delight that features 120 different gins from around the world and taste a few local favourites too. There are tasters and masterclasses, live entertainment, gin shop, and street food and snacks. You event get a free gin and tonic with your ticket!

Filey Town Festival

Coming up for its 40th year, the Filey Town Festival is a fantastic local event. There are stalls, musical entertainment – including a brass band performance – and lots of fun displays.

Cheese and wine tasting on Embsay Railway

1940s Day in Harrogate

The 1940s celebrations in Harrogate are always spectacular. It’s now in its 9th year and is only getting bigger and better with age! There will be entertainment, stalls, food trucks, as well as vintage cars and wartime military vehicles to see.

Bat Walk

Love bats? Then you’ll really enjoy the bat walk in settle! It’s a short walk around the town with a talk detailing a little more about the creatures and where they like to fly. Please bring a torch and sturdy foot ware.

British Falconry and Raptor Fair

You’ll get to see lots of different and exciting birds of prey swooping through the air at the British Falconry and Raptor Fair at Duncombe Park. As well as fantastic bird displays, you’ll hear talks and seminars from experts, explore fantastic stalls, and enjoy delicious food – including a BBQ on Saturday.

Armed Forces Day

The 29th June is Armed forces day where events take place to celebrate the work of British Armed Forces. Scarborough are hosting their 11th annual celebration and this year are honoured to host and celebrate the centenary year of the Scarborough Sea Cadets.
