Bolton Abbeys is based in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales on the banks on the River Wharfe. The beautiful Abbey offers a range of activities, from long walks (with up to 80 miles of footpaths) to wandering around and exploring the ruins which are steeped in history and legend. It’s the perfect family day out as there are many events held throughout the year such as Easter egg hunts, Father Christmas and pumpkin trails. There’s something for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy.
Alongside the amazing Abbey there are plenty of other attractions to enjoy, which include the stepping-stones and the valley of desolation, a walk that rewards you with the picturesque view of a spectacular waterfall near the end. Bolton Abbey has been carefully managed by the Devonshire family since 1755, and remains the Yorkshire seat of the 12th Duke of Devonshire. Many artists have admired the landscape and find it awe-inspiring. We hope when you visit you’ll find it just as inspiring.
