A visit to the Bronte Weaving Shed will give you that true Yorkshire shopping experience and offers you the very best that Yorkshire has to offer.
The Bronte Weaving Shed is home to the manufacture of Bronte Tweed, woven on looms by hand, dating back to the 1850s. The property has been restored to its former splendour by the Edinburgh Woollen Mill. A working exhibition can be seen, with a traditional loom in place) which highlights Mr Timmy Feather who was the last hand-loom weaver within Yorkshire. Timmy was baptised by the famous three Bronte Sisters’ Father, Patrick Bronte, in 1825 (when Charlotte Bronte would have then been around 9 years old).
Also within the Bronte Weaving Shed you’ll find Ladies and Men’s Fashions, outdoor clothing, knitwear and an excellent range of souvenirs and gifts, so you can take home a memento of your visit to Haworth and the Bronte Weaving Shed. To round up your visit, refuel and refresh, why not treat yourself to some Costa Coffee and scrumptious Yorkshire Cake?
