Wensleydale Cheese is the world’s only real Yorkshire Wensleydale Cheese. It was first crafted in the 12th Century by a group of Cisterian Monk settlers in Wensleydale, being perfected over time via Farmers’ wives. In 1897 the first Creamery was built in Hawes which stepped up cheese-making to a large scale, as is today, with time-honoured recipes in place.

Visit our Creamery with the family and learn all about our many tempting varieties of cheese and our recipe ideas. Our cheeses are made by hand, with traditional methods by a devoted team of master cheese-makers.

Learn about our story (tradition, devotion and dedication) and watch the cheese being made from the Viewing Gallery. During the visit you’ll be presented with many opportunities to taste our various types and understand why we’ve won so many prestigious cheese awards.

All our famous Wensleydale Cheeses are available online to order, so you can enjoy real Wensleydale Cheese any time of the year.
